Creating and reviewing your CV with interactive tools How to write a CV (curriculum vitae)
You can use the CV Builder to help you create different types of CVs depending on the role you’re applying for and the sector you want to work in. The tool will help you to develop a CV from scratch by guiding you through what content needs to be added, in what section and why, so you become familiar with what employers are looking for in a CV. You can also build your LinkedIn profile to ensure it reflects your CV and promotes your skills and experience to a larger audience.
Once you’ve created your CV you can use the CV360 tool to review your work. This tool looks for common mistakes that may deter hiring managers and prevent Application Tracking Systems (ATS) from contacting you for an interview. It will also provide you with detailed feedback and suggestions for how to improve your CV.
You have access to CV tools if you’re a current OU student or completed your study within the last three years. If you're not sure how to sign-in, see Help with signing into OU systems. You'll find more information about our careers tools and services, including how to manage your data, in About the Careers and Employability Services.
You can also request a careers consultation to receive one-to-one support on creating and strengthening your CV for specific job roles.
If you’re not a current or recent OU student you can still access a range of information and advice on CVs, job applications and the recruitment process at CVs, applications and interviews.
