Potential employers Sport and Fitness

Professionals with a degree in this subject area can find employment across the range of public, private and not-for-profit sectors. Employers and organisations to target include:

  • Schools, further education and higher education institutions
  • Professional and semi-professional sports clubs
  • Private health and fitness clubs, spas, public sports and recreation facilities.
  • National sporting associations, governing bodies and other related sporting agencies (i.e. UK Sport)
  • Grass roots and community sporting bodies i.e. the home nations four Sports Councils – Sport England, Sport Scotland, Sport Wales and Sport NI
  • Local authorities.
  • The health sector, including the National Health Service (NHS) and other private healthcare providers e.g. Nuffield, BUPA.

Some roles lend themselves well to self-employment through private consultancy such as sport coaching, fitness, training, strength and conditioning, diet and nutrition and sport psychology.
