Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

Information about the University’s legal duties, individual responsibilities and arrangements for managing different aspects of equality.

Equality and Diversity…making it happen. The Open University Equality Scheme 2022-2026: The Equality Scheme sets out the OU’s commitments to meet our responsibilities under the Public Sector Equality Duty of the Equality Act 2010 and to have due regard as part of Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1988. It also details institutional and unit equality objectives to held us address gaps in under-representation and to create an inclusive community for all.

Anti-Discrimination Statement: This statement aligns with our Equality Scheme and highlights the University’s focus on eradicating unlawful discrimination for staff and students.

Anti-Racism Statement: Following the global rise of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020, the OU is working towards becoming an anti-racist University. This statement emphasises our commitment to this in addition to our Equality Scheme objectives.
