Conditions of Registration 2026/27 Supplementary Agreement (Social Work)
In March 2026, The Open University published the Conditions of Registration Supplementary Agreement: Social Work 2026/27.
There are some changes from the previous version of this policy (Conditions of Registration Supplementary Agreement: Social Work 2025/26). These are:
- Introduction updated to clarify that ‘tutor’ is used throughout the document to describe the person supporting you, and that depending on your nation you may know this role as a Practice Tutor, Module Tutor, or Staff Tutor.
- Clause 1.1 updated to confirm you must have an appropriate Disclosure Scotland check, including the PVG check.
- Clause 1.1 updated to confirm that in certain circumstances you may be required to complete additional or repeat disclosure or safeguarding checks during your studies.
- Clause 1.12 updated to clarify you must meet the relevant health clearance requirements, for example, Occupational Health clearance or nation equivalent.
- Terminology updated from Practice Learning Periods to Practice Learning Opportunities and from Practice Assessor to Practice Educator (England, Scotland and Wales) and Practice Teacher (Northern Ireland).
- Clause 5.2 updated to confirm that students in Northern Ireland that are unable to complete a Practice Learning Opportunity must repeat it in full.
- Clause 6.2 and Clause 7.2 updated to explain that the 50% module fee reduction applies to the module fee in place when you retake it (not the original module fee).
- Definition of Apprentice updated to include study of the Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work (Apprenticeship).
