Changes to policy and curriculum

Fee Rules (Undergraduate) England: 2026/27

In March 2026, The Open University published the Fee Rules (Undergraduate) England: 2026/27.

There are some changes from the previous version of this policy (Fee Rules (Undergraduate) England: 2025/26). These are:

  • Scope updated to distinguish these Fee Rules from the new Fee Rules (Undergraduate) England LLE Cohort which applies to new or returning students eligible for the England fee who are registered for an undergraduate standalone module or an undergraduate qualification or an Integrated Masters which begins after 1 January 2027.
  • Fee Limit Discount section updated to confirm that the maximum fee we can charge students eligible for the England fee scheme who are registered on an undergraduate qualification is £7,335 in the 2026/27 seasonal academic year.
  • New Paragraph 6.19 added to clarify when funding entitlement and fee liability patterns are assessed and fixed.
  • Section 7 updated to improve clarity and readability. It has been organised into two subsections separating discretionary fee credits and fee refunds. No change to content.
  • Paragraph 8.2 updated to clarify you will be informed of any additional residential school costs before you register.
