Conditions of Registration 2022/23: Supplementary Agreement (PGCE)
In March 2022, The Open University published the Conditions of Registration Supplementary Agreement for PGCE Students Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Wales) 2022/23 for the first time.
This Supplementary Agreement applies to Students who have been accepted on to The Open University’s Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (Wales) programme. This Supplementary Agreement sets out the additional terms relating to study of a PGCE (Wales) qualification under both of the routes available in this programme: the Salaried Route and the Part-Time route.
The changes made:
There have been several significant changes to this policy:
- The term ‘School Support worker’ has been amended to ‘School Learning Support worker’.
- Related documentation list updated with ‘Fitness to Study’ and ‘Fitness to Practise’ as a document that governs your study.
- New Sections added entitled “Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Open University” and “Safe Space Reporting”.
- Amendment to Clause 2.2 for clarity around DBS clearance.
- Amendment to Clause 3.4 to add “subject to the absence of other disciplinary restrictions.”
- New Clause 3.6 which details the requirement for Students to abide by the Dignity and Respect Policy, including implications where Students do not comply with this.
- Clause 4.1a) amended to clarify that this references full school days.
- Clause 4.1f) updated to clarify the relationship between travel distances to practice learning opportunities, geographical location and medium of interaction on the programme.
- Removal of reference to ‘the Regional Consortia’ in Clauses 4.4, 4.6, 6.1 and 9.3.
- Amendment to Clause 5.7 to add “and deregistered in certain circumstances.”
- Amendment to 7.2a) to refer to a partner school.
- Removal of sentence within 9.1 that states that Salaried Students may be able to transfer to the Part-Time Route.
- Amendments to Clause 10.2: Addition of the Education Health Standards Act (2004) and removal of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 for Northern Ireland.
- Amendments to ‘Further clarification’ section.
