Conditions of Registration 2022/23: Supplementary Agreement (Nursing)

In March 2022, The Open University published the Conditions of Registration Supplementary Agreement (Nursing) 2022/23 for the first time.

This Supplementary Agreement applies to Students/Apprentices that have been accepted on to The Open University’s Pre-Registration Nursing programme only and sets out the additional terms relating to study of a Nursing Qualification.

The changes made:

There have been several significant changes to this policy:

  1. Apprenticeship student terminology changed to ‘Apprentices’ and ‘Learners’ throughout.
  2. New Sections added entitled “Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Open University” and “Safe Space Reporting”.
  3. References to apprenticeship (APDM) contact details amended throughout as appropriate.
  4. Removal of a paragraph describing usage of terms, which are now used accurately throughout. The terms Education manager and Mentor has been removed, and replaced with Practice Assessor/ Practice Supervisor.
  5. Amendment to Clause 2.1 for clarity around DBS clearance. 
  6. Addition of sentence within clause 2.7 to state ‘subject to not being subject to other disciplinary sanctions’.
  7. Addition of Clause 2.9 to specify that you will need to have met all the educational requirements and personal attributes/any other entry requirements.
  8. Addition of Clause 2.10 to specify that you require satisfactory Occupational Health Clearance and should refer to the current guidelines for up-to-date requirements. requirements.
  9. Glossary updated: Reference to ‘Apprentice/Learner’, ‘The Code’, ‘Practice Assessor’, and ‘Practice Supervisor’
  10. Amendments to ‘Further clarification’ section.
  11. Contact details for Apprentices updated within the Further clarification section.
