Gender Identity

In April 2022, The Open University made some amendments to our Gender Identity policy.

The changes made:

  1. Page 7, 4.3 no. 4 – added ‘Checks will be made if you have any restrictions, safeguarding concerns or disability declarations on your original record and will be moved over to your new record. Reference to your former recorded identity will be avoided as much as possible and only included if required for safeguarding purposes.’
  2. Glossary of terms in Appendix 4. updated in line with staff guidance written by Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Team.
  3. Appendix 2. Updated with resources recommended by EDI Team.
  4. Page 8. Safe Space reporting.
