Fitness to Practice

In May 2022, The Open University made some amendments to our Fitness to Practice policy

The procedure sets out the process for how The Open University responds to an allegation or cause for concern about a student’s suitability or fitness to practise and the stages required to ensure that any issues raised are investigated and assessed quickly, fairly and systematically.

The changes made:

  1. References to Student Charter Principles have been updated to Student Charter Values to reflect changes to the Charter.
  2. Change to ‘a specialist group of Investigating Officers’ for Nursing and for Social Work.
  3. Enhancement of “no case to answer” in Outcomes when a concern is received or from the investigation stage point 4.3.1.
  4. Addition of “no case to answer” to Outcomes from the Review Meeting section 4.5.1.
  5. Addition of new Police Community Support Officer Apprenticeship qualification to the Policing Appendix E.
