Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate Practice (X04) - Qualification withdrawal

The Open University plans to withdraw the Nursing Associate Foundation Degree Apprenticeship on 31 December 2022. All students who wish to claim this qualification before it is withdrawn will need to satisfy all necessary academic requirements before this date.

Students should keep in mind that the following modules will be withdrawn over the next two years:

  • An introduction to health and social care (K101) started for the final time in February 2020
  • Enhancing your healthcare practice (K117) started for the final time in February 2020
  • Extending your contribution to practice (K236) will start for the final time in November 2021
  • Perspectives on health and illness (KYN238) will start for the final time in April 2021

If a student is unable to complete this qualification by the stated date, they will be able to transfer to the replacement qualification Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate Practice (Apprenticeship) (X19).

Why this is happening

The Open University Nursing Associate Programme shares some modules with the Pre-registration Nursing Programme. The latter is moving to the Future Nurse Standards in September 2020 so new shared modules have been developed to reflect this change.
