Safeguarding Policy: Protecting children and vulnerable adults

January 2021

In January 2021, The Open University amended the Safeguarding Policy: Protecting children and vulnerable adults.

The changes made

  1. Updated legislation references
  2. Updated scope of the policy regarding placement settings.
  3. Updated guidance on how to report a concern about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult.
  4. Updated links to Related Documentation.
  5. Section 2: Removal of postal address and amendment to referral procedure.
  6. Section 2: Inclusion of information to contact other agencies outside of business hours.
  7. Inclusion of section 5.5 in Appendix B regarding sharing information with or without consent.

September 2020

In September 2020, The Open University amended the Safeguarding Policy: Protecting children and vulnerable adults.

The changes made

  1. Updated legislation references
  2. Inclusion of guidance and reporting forms relating to what to do if you are concerned about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult
  3. Inclusion of reference to safeguarding policy annex of the Open University International Development Office for overseas projects
  4. Inclusion of section 5.4 in Appendix B regarding third party information requests
