November 2019

In November 2019, The Open University made a minor amendment to the Academic Progress Policy (Apprentices) 2019/20.

The changes made

  1. Update to the Scope section to clarify that Microcredential students are not in scope.

March 2019

In March 2019, The Open University published the new Academic Progress Policy 2019/20 (Apprentices). This supersedes the previous document - Academic Progress Policy 2018/19 (Apprentices). Only minor editorial changes have been made since the previous document.

This policy defines:

  • What constitutes sufficient academic progress for Apprentices to be able to continue studying for their apprenticeship qualification
  • How academic progress is monitored
  • How and when study restrictions and applied to Apprentices
  • How to apply for permission to undertake further study if a study restriction has been applied, and who to obtain permission from

This document applies to all Apprentices studying undergraduate modules at Open University first level or above ('undergraduate study'). There is a separate version of this policy for non-Apprentices
