Using Social Media: Policy for OU Students

The Open University has made changes to Using Social Media: Policy for OU Students, which forms Appendix 3 of the Student Commuting Policy. The changes are effective from November 2018.

This policy applies to all students who use social media in relation to their Open University studies, including the Open University’s official and unofficial channels, and public or closed/private social media networks.

The changes made

  1. Clarification of who the policy applies to
  2. Examples of what we mean by social media, and what activities the policy relates to, have been added
  3. The wording on the principles has been refined
  4. Clear distinction between official Open University social media spaces and other spaces has been provided
  5. A link to the community guidelines for group administrators has been added
  6. The links to related policies have been updates
  7. A glossary has been added.
