Safeguarding Policy

Warning: the content within this page reflects the information available to students in the 2018/19 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

In September 2018, The Open University published our Safeguarding Policy. This describes how the University meets its statutory safeguarding obligations to protect the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.

This policy applied to any students or staff who may have Safeguarding concerns about the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults associated with students, staff or other business activities during the course of Open University business.

The changes made

  • Updated legislation references
  • Inclusion of guidance and reporting forms relating to what to do if you are concerned about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult.
  • Inclusion of reference to safeguarding policy annex of the Open University International Development Office for overseas projects.

If you are concerned about the welfare or safety of a child or vulnerable adult, you can contact our Safeguarding Referrals Team by email safeguarding-referrals@open.ac.uk.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
