Fitness to Practise Procedure

Warning: the content within this page reflects the information available to students in the 2018/19 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

The Open University has made changes to the Fitness to Practise procedure from November 2018.

This procedure is to be followed where regulatory bodies require The Open University to confirm that a student on one of the professional programmes offered by the University is not only academically qualified to practise, but also suitable or fit to practise in that profession.

The changes made

  1. References to the Non-Medical Prescribing programme of study added throughout the document, to include a new Annex E specifically referring to this programme.
  2. Names of professional or statutory regulatory bodies updated throughout the document.
  3. Code of Practice information and links updated within the Annexes for each programme.
  4. Job titles for composition of review panel sections within the Annexes for each programme have been updated.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
