MBA (Leadership Practice) (F82) - Qualification Amendment
The Open University is making some changes to the Master of Business Administration (Leadership Practice) (F82), which forms part of the Senior Leader Master’s degree Apprenticeship (SLMDA), from November 2019. Some of the existing modules are being refreshed and the first new modules will be launched in November 2019.
These module amendments are detailed below:
- MBA Stage 1: management: perspectives and practice (BXY716) will be replaced with two 30-credit modules, Managing in a changing world (BXY870) and Creating and sustaining value (BXY872), both of which will be available to study from November 2019
- The dynamics of strategy (BBXY835) will be replaced by the new module Effective strategic management (BXY873) which will be available from May 2020
- Corporate finance (BBXY831) will be replaced by the new module Finance for strategic decision making (BXY874) which will be available from November 2020
- Making a difference: the management initiative (BXY839) will be remade as the new module MBA project: making a difference (BXY875) with a study duration of six months instead of twelve months. This new module will be available from November 2020
We do not expect this change to affect students who began studying towards the SLMDA in May or November 2018, as they are likely to complete their apprenticeship under the existing arrangements. If a student has any concerns about completing their qualification, they should contact their Apprenticeships Enrolment and Support Team on 0300 303 4121 and speak to one of our advisors
However, the study pathway for students who started their SLMDA studies in May 2019 will now consist of:
- MBA Stage 1: management: perspectives and practice (BXY716) - 60 credits
- Leadership in practice (BBXY857) - 45 credits
- Effective strategic management (BXY873) - 30 credits
- Finance for strategic decision making (BXY874) - 15 credits
- MBA project: making a difference (BXY875) - 30 credits
Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
