The Open University will be making some changes to the Diploma of Higher Education in Computing and IT (W36) from the 1st October 2018.
Three new specialist routes will be available from October, and the Digital technology and Networking routes are merging into a single route called Communications and Networking.
These changes will not affect a student's ability to complete this qualification as originally described. They'll still be working towards a Diploma of Higher Education in Computing and IT; the name of their chosen route does not influence the name of their qualification.
There are now four options for students when choosing their Stage 2 study:
If a student is considering progressing onto the BSc (Hons) Computing and IT, the option they select will influence the name of their final degree. However, if they're not planning to progress onto the BSc (Hons) Computing and IT (Q62) they may wish to complete the broad route to give them more flexibility over their module choices.
Students can find more information about the BSc (Hons) Computing and IT (Q62).
Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
