BA (Hons) Youth Work (Q55) - Qualification withdrawal

Warning: the content within this page reflects what was communicated to students in the 2017/18 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

The Open University has amended plans to teach-out (withdraw) the BA (Honours) Youth Work (Q55). Students will now need to satisfy all necessary academic requirements by 31 December 2022. Students should still have sufficient time to complete this qualification before this date.

Students who still intend to claim this qualification before this date must keep in mind that a number of compulsory modules within this qualification will be discontinued earlier than initially planned:

  • Leading work with young people in practice (E218) will start for the final time in October 2018.
  • Youth: policy and practice (E318) will start for the final time in October 2020.

Students continuing study towards this qualification will need to ensure that they successfully complete these two remaining compulsory modules before they are withdrawn.

Provided that students complete all required study before withdrawal of this qualification, their degree will still be recognised as a professional youth work qualification on completion.
