Language Studies qualifications - Qualification amendment

The Open University plans to make some changes to the following qualifications from October 2018:

  • BA (Hons) Language Studies (Q30)
  • Diploma in Higher Education Language Studies (W41)
  • Certificate in Higher Education Language Studies (T21)

The changes involve alterations to the following modules’ withdrawal dates:

  • Beginners’ Italian (L195) will begin for the final time in October 2019
  • Beginners’ Chinese (L197) will begin for the final time in October 2019
  • Intermediate Italian (L150) will begin for the final time in October 2020
  • Exploring English Grammar (E304) will begin for the final time in October 2022

If a student is intending to take any of these modules, they should have time to do so before they are withdrawn. To ensure that they're able to achieve this, it is recommended that they study at an intensity of 60 credits per year.

If a student is unable to complete these modules before they are withdrawn, or they wish to study at an intensity lower than 60 credits per year, they will still be able to complete their qualification with the other optional modules available.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
