Changes to policy and curriculum

BA (Honours) English Language and Literature (Q39) - Qualification amendment

The Open University is making changes to some of the modules that make up the BA (Honours) English Language and Literature (Q39).

  • Exploring English grammar (E304) is being withdrawn. This module will be available to study for the final time in October 2022.
  • Language and creativity (E302) will become a compulsory Level 3 module on this qualification for students beginning their Level 3 study after the withdrawal of E304.

If a student wishes to count Exploring English grammar (E304) towards their BA (Honours) English Language and Literature (Q39), they will need to study it before or in October 2022. Students are strongly advised to check their planned programme of study with one of our advisers to ensure that they have selected a suitable combination of modules.

Why this is happening

This decision has been taken as a result of a University-wide curriculum review. Our faculties have been looking across the curriculum to consolidate our current portfolio so that we can continue adding modules and qualifications to meet new areas of student and employer demand.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
