The Open University will withdraw the following qualifications:
These new qualifications include the same modules as those being withdrawn, with the R14 containing the same subject specialisms in art history, classical studies, creative writing, English language, English literature, French, German, history, music, philosophy, religious studies and Spanish.
If a student wishes to remain registered on one of these qualifications and plans to complete it by 31 December 2021, they do not need to take any action. However, if they plan to complete their qualification after 2021 they will need to transfer to either the new, equivalent qualification or to another qualification. Students should contact their Student Support Team (SST) if they would like to discuss the options available to them.
If a student has previously been awarded credit transfer and wish to transfer this to a new qualification, they must contact the Credit Transfer Centre to have this reassessed.
We are introducing the new BA (Hons) Arts and Humanities because we believe that including both ‘Arts’ and ‘Humanities’ in the title is a more accurate reflection of what is studied in the degree. Research has also suggested that some employers find the title ‘Arts and Humanities’ more helpful in understanding what you have studied.
Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
