Complaints and Appeals Procedure (October 2016 update)

Warning: the content within this page reflects the information available to students in the 2016/17 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

In October 2016, The Open University made some amendments to our Complaints and Appeal procedure. These changes will affect all Open University enquirers, applicants, registered undergraduate, postgraduate and research students, registered apprenticeship students and alumni.

The changes made

  • Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 now include explanation of procedures for students studying towards an apprenticeship.
  • Sections 2, 3 and 4 have been revised to extend the eligibility check for a review from three to ten working day.
  • Sections 2, 3 and 4 now include, at the Review stage, the requirement for a valid explanation of why new evidence, or a new element of complaint, was not presented at an earlier stage of the process.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
