Computing & IT and Applied Psychology qualifications - Qualification amendment

Warning: the content within this page reflects what was communicated to students in the 2016/17 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

The University is making a small change to the name of the following qualifications:

  • BSc (Honours) Computing & IT and Applied Psychology (Q67)
  • Diploma of Higher Education in Computing & IT and Applied Psychology (W42)
  • Certificate of Higher Education in Computing & IT and Applied Psychology (T13)

From October 2017 these qualifications will be named ‘Computing & IT and Psychology’ (with the word ‘Applied’ removed from the title).

What students need to do

As a student's choice of modules and completion dates will be unaffected by this administrative change, no further action needs to be taken. Instead, students should continue working towards their qualification according to their existing study plan.

On completion of one of these qualifications, students will be able to choose which title they would prefer to appear on their qualification transcript - (for example, either the Certificate of Higher Education in Computing & IT and Psychology, or the Certificate of Higher Education in Computing & IT and Applied Psychology).

Why this is happening

In 2014 the ‘Applied Psychology’ name was chosen to distinguish this joint qualification from the single-subject Certificate of Higher Education in Psychology. However, our market research tells us that this is no longer necessary and that ‘Psychology’ is more appropriate to today’s market.
