Diploma in Paramedic Science (V20) - Qualification withdrawal

The Open University will withdraw the Diploma in Paramedic Science (V20) on 31 December 2018. If a student wishes to claim this qualification, they will need to meet the necessary academic requirements.

For students who wish to continue studying this qualification, they should keep in mind that the modules that make up this qualification will be withdrawn prior to 31 December 2018:

  • Developing your paramedic practice (S211) will begin for the final time in October 2016
  • Human Biology (SK277) will begin for the final time in October 2016
  • The science of the mind (SDK228) will begin for the final time in October 2017

If a student doesn't successfully complete one of these modules before they are withdrawn, they will be unable to complete their qualification.

What do students need to do

If a student doesn't wish to continue studying towards this qualification, they may be able to transfer their achieved credit to another qualification such as the BSc (Hons) Health sciences (Q71) or the Open Degree (QD).

Students are strongly advised to check their planned programme of study with one of our advisers to ensure that they have selected a suitable combination of modules. Furthermore, if a student has received credit transfer towards the Diploma in Paramedic Science (V20), their credit will need to be reassessed towards their new qualification.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
