BA/BSc (Honours) Design and Innovation (Q61) - Qualification Amendment

The Open University plans to make an amendment to the BA/BSc (Hons) Design and Innovation (Q61).

From February 2016, Discovering mathematics (MU123) will be available as an optional module together with Essential Mathematics 1 (MST124) in the Design engineering route of this qualification.

What this means for students

Students should choose to study either MU123 or MST124; these modules cannot be studied at the same time. Students are likely to be ready for MST124 if they have completed A-level maths or equivalent (for example as part of a Higher National Certificate in engineering). However, it may depend how long ago a student completed this study.

It's important that students base their choice of studying MU123 or MST124 on their mathematical ability. As such, there are quizzes for both modules which will help them when making this decision. If a student finds the quiz for MST124 difficult, they should choose MU123 instead.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
