Diploma of Higher Education and Foundation Degree in Counselling (W09 and X09) - Qualification amendment

Warning: the content within this page reflects what was communicated to students in the 2014/15 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.

The Open University has made some changes to the study requirements at Stage 2 within the following qualifications:

  • Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling (W09)
  • Foundation Degree in Counselling (X09)

Previously, 30 of the 120 credits required to complete Stage 2 had to come from one of two Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB) Level 5 Diploma options (CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, or CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Behavioural Therapeutic Skills and Theory).

All Stage 2 study can now be gained from Open University modules. 30 credits from one of the following Open University modules can now be counted in place of one of the CPCAB Level 5 Diploma options:

  • Death and dying (K260)
  • The science of the mind: investigating mental health (SDK228)
