Certificate of Higher Education in Business and Management (T17) - Qualification withdrawal

The Open University will withdraw the Certificate of Higher Education in Business and Management (T17) on 31 December 2019. It will be replaced by the new Certificate of Higher Education in Business Management (T27), which will be available from the 2015/16 academic year.

What students need to do

If a student wishes to claim the Certificate of Higher Education in Business and Management (T17), they must complete all academic requirements by 31 December 2019. This means that they will most likely need to start their final module no later than October 2018

Some of the modules which are compulsory for these qualifications are due to be discontinued before the qualification ends. Students must successfully any compulsory modules before they are withdrawn or they will unable to claim the qualification.

  • An introduction to business studies (B120) will begin for the final time in April 2015. This module is compulsory - if a student doesn't successfully complete this module before it is withdrawn, they will be unable to complete their qualification
  • Working and learning: developing effective performance at work (BU130/BUXS130) will begin for the final time in April 2015

Students may be able to transfer their study to the new qualification, but we only recommend this if a student hasn't yet started their studies towards T17. If a student already has credit, they may find that it cannot be counted towards the new qualification.
