BA (Hons) Leadership and Management (Q54) - Qualification withdrawal
The Open University will withdraw the BA (Hons) Leadership and Management (Q54) on 31 December 2019. It will be replaced by the new BA (Hons) Business Management (Q91), which will be available from the 2015/16 academic year.
What students need to do
If a student wishes to claim the BA (Hons) Leadership and Management (Q54), they must complete all academic requirements by 31 December 2019. This means that they will most likely need to start their final module no later than October 2018. If a student has already started their Stage 2 or Stage 3 studies, they are advised to continue working towards their qualification.
Please be aware that some of the modules that are compulsory for this qualification are due to be discontinued before the qualification is withdrawn:
- An introduction to business studies (B120) will begin for the final time in April 2015
- Working and learning: developing effective performance at work (BU130/BUXS130) will begin for the final time in April 2015
- Business organisations & their environments (B201) will begin for the final time in October 2016
- Managing 1: organisations and people (B628/BZX628) will begin for the final time in October 2016
- Managing 2: marketing and finance (B629/BZX629) will begin for the final time in April 2017
Alternatively, a student can transfer to the new qualification, BA (Hons) in Business Management, (Q91), or to one of our Open programme qualifications, such as the BA/BSc (Hons) Open, (QD). However, students should be aware that:
- If a student wishes to transfer to the new BA (Hons) Business Management (Q91), this is only advisable if they have not yet started Stage 2 of their qualification. If a student has already achieved credit at Stages 1 and 2, they may find that some of their modules cannot be counted towards the new qualification.
- The BA (Hons) Business Management (Q91) does not include a free choice option. If a student has completed a free choice module as part of their current qualification, they will need to check whether they can count it towards their new qualification.
- If a student has received an award of credit transfer towards their current qualification, this will need to be reassessed towards their new qualification.
