Masters in Education (F01) - Qualification withdrawal

The Open University will withdraw the Masters degree in Education (F01) on 31 December 2017. This will be replaced with the new Masters degree in Education (F70). As with the F01, the F70's six year time limit for completion will apply from the date a student started their first module towards their degree.

If a student wishes to claim the F01, they will need to complete all the necessary academic requirements before it is withdrawn. All students will need to start their final module no later than October 2016, unless the usual time limit of six years to complete this qualification precedes this date.

Transferring to the new qualification

Students may be able to transfer from the Masters degree in Education (F01) to the Masters degree in Education (F70) depending on what they have already studied.

If a student has completed and passed one of the following modules from F01 they will be able to transfer to the new qualification and proceed to Stage 2 from February 2016.

  • Leading professional practice in education (E855)
  • Educational enquiry (E891)
  • Equity, diversity and educational practice (E805)

If a student has completed and passed Investigation language in action (E854), they will be able to transfer to F80 and proceed to Stage 2 from February 2017.
