Certificate of Higher Education and Diploma of Higher Education Open (K05 and E60) - Qualification withdrawal extension

The Open University will extend the following qualifications two years:

  • The Diploma of Higher Education Open (E60) will now be withdrawn on 31 December 2019
  • The Certificate of Higher Education Open (K05) will now be withdrawn on 31 December 2019

Although these qualifications are being extended, there will be no change to the end date of transitional fee arrangements. If a student studying in England or overseas uses transitional fee arrangements, they should remember that these will still end on 31 August 2017. Any modules started after that date will be charged at our standard fee rates.

What this means for students

  • If a student is working towards one of these qualifications, they now have an additional two years in which to complete it.
  • If a student is working towards the BA/BSc Open degree (BD) but do not think they will be able to complete it before 31 December 2019, they may be able to complete their studies with one of these alternative qualifications.
  • If a student is working towards a qualification that is due to end by 31 December 2017 and do not think that they will be able to complete before the end date, they may be able to complete their studies with one of these alternative qualifications.

This is an administrative change and students do not need to take any action. This change will not affect what or how they can study.

Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
