Warning: the content within this page reflects what was communicated to students in the 2013/14 academic year. As such, this information may no longer be factually accurate.
From 24 April 2014, the way that the Open degree (QD) will be referred to on The Open University websites changed from BA/BSc Open degree (QD) to BA/BSc (Honours) Open (QD).
The BA/BSc (Honours) Open (QD) is a 360-credit degree and all students registered onto it are understood to be working towards the 360-credit version of the degree. However, the 300-credit version of the qualification (the ‘without honours’ version) is still available for those who choose not to continue with the Honours degree.
This administrative change will not affect what or how a student can study and therefore no action needs to be taken. If a student wishes to complete the 300-credit version of the Open degree qualification, having chosen not to continue with the Honours degree, they can request it by contacting their current Student Support Team (SST) when they have satisfied all necessary academic requirements.
Please talk to your Student Support Team if you need any further information. You can find out how to contact them on Contact the OU.
